ALISTAIR COLE FRGS
Managing Director
Having served with the Parachute Regiment and Royal Army Medical Corps, Alistair worked as an expedition leader and overseas project manager before returning to the UK and founding Lifesigns. Alistair has led over 35 overseas expeditions and is a Mountain Leader and qualified Trauma Medic. Alistair is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and is the current membership secretary of the Expedition Providers Association. Alistair is also a guest lecturer at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and is chief instructor of the faculty at the Expedition Care Program. In his spare time Alistair likes to climb and race huskies.
IAN FORBES FRGS
Company Manager
Ian served for over 25 years with both the Regular and the Territorial Army, and has a solid background of working with a wide range of youth groups. Ian is an experienced and highly effective team leader, capable of identifying, planning and producing training packages to the needs of the customer. Ian is a qualified Mountain Leader and has led over 50 overseas expeditions and has worked in training centres though out the world. Ian is a keen power boat racer, sky diver, mountaineering.
SHERRY STONE
Financial Manager
Sherry has been in the accounting field all her working life and has gained vast experience in all aspects of the financial world. Updating her computing knowledge by doing an HND in Business Information Technology, which she passed with Distinctions. Sherry enjoys travelling, having backpacked around Europe before having her two children, she then travelled with her son and daughter through France and Portugal, finally settling in Spain for two years. Now she enjoys looking after and riding her New Forest Pony.
KEV HAWKS
UK Training Coordinator
After a full military career, Kev joined Lifesigns Group as the training coordinator, he is a qualified mountain leader and climber as well as an experienced First Aid trainer. Kev holds a combination of City and Guilds qualifications including the 7303 in Adult teaching. He has had a life long passion for outdoor education especially kayaking for which he holds the BCU level 4 qualification for sea and whitewater kayaking.
HELEN KNIGHT
UK Operations Coordinator
Helen joined Lifesigns in 2008 after leaving a career in Education looking for her next challenge. Now a fully qualified Basic Expedition Leader and goes out regularly at the weekends assisting with D of E groups.
She is currently studying for a degree through Open University and is a FAW Instructor.
In her spare time Helen likes to spend time with her family, walking and going to beer festivals!
KERRIEANNE FORBES
School Programme Coordinator
Kerrieanne joined Adventure Lifesigns in 2006. She has travelled extensively, and spent her gap year travelling South East Asia, India and Nepal. More recently she has lived with the Massai in Tanzania and becoming an Open Water Diver in Vietnam. As a Basic Expedition Leader Kerrieanne has assistant led expeditions to Borneo, Tanzania and Nepal and is currently working toward her Mountain Leader Award. Kerrieanne is a first aid at work instructor and has attended the off-site safety management course.
DAVE LUCAS
Special Projects Coordinator
After an education culminating in a degree in Marine Biology and experience in outdoor education Dave went into the
world of expeditions. Over a decade later he has organised and guided over 30 expeditions resulting in over 53 months of
experience in over 60 countries. These expeditions have included overland journeys along the lengths of Asia, Europe,
Africa, South America and Central America.
Dave has spoken about his adventures at numerous events including the Kendal Mountain Film Festival and the London Outdoor
Adventure Show. His stories have been published in numerous magazines, books and aired on TV channels.
Dave is also a qualified EMT and first aid instructor. Recently the combination of his guiding experience and first aid
knowledge has entitled him work within the mountains of the Sinai Desert of Egypt. There he lived for 18 months with the
Bedouin, training them in mountain skills and first aid.
When Dave is not working on expeditions he like to relax by running ultra marathons, which have recently included the
Marathon des Sables and the Phaoronic 100km.
DR JACKIE GIBB
Medical Adviosr
Having qualified as a Doctor and completed a variety of hospital jobs, including a four year stint in Accident and
Emergency, Jackie decided that she preferred working in the outdoors. She has traveled or worked in over 50 different
countries worldwide and regularly leads groups on overseas expeditions. She has successfully completed numerous high
altitude treks and is a qualified diver.
ROWENA COLE
School Programme Coordinator
After leaving Exeter University with a degree in Biological Sciences, Rowena went on to do a PGCE at Reading. She spent
three years in the maintained sector and during this time took on the role of Duke of Edinburgh Award co-ordinator,
widening its appeal to incorporate a much greater range of students. She went on to become a school co-ordinator,
facilitating an expedition to Tanzania, before moving into the independent sector. Having worked on both sides of the
education system she is aware of the unique pressures that now exist when organising any activity for young people.
